History

Founded in 1992, AEP Books and Media, is a Veteran-owned, Hub-Zone Certified company headquartered in Buffalo, NY. While working as an academic counselor for incoming MBA students, Scott Meacham came up with the concept of supplying study guides for standardized tests. Meacham’s notion turned into a part-time business run from his new partner’s, Ken Pronti, home.

The company landed its first major contract with the Government Services Administration in the late 1990s. With freight trucks pulling up outside Pronti's house loaded with pallets of books, it was time to find a real location for the growing business. In 2000, they leased space at the Tri-Main and officially quit their day jobs to tackle the business full-time.

Since then aggressive marketing and technology enhancements have fueled an aggressive growth rate and expanding market share. New opportunities include the sale of environmental products and fulfillment services as AEP expands beyond its traditional business lines. AEP has evolved into a diversified supplier for academic, corporate and government customers worldwide.

The following is just a partial listing of some of the agencies we have dealt with over the past five years: US Army, US Navy, US Air Force, Department of Veteran Affairs, Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Commerce, Department of Agriculture and Federal Bureau of Prisons.

AEP Books and Media also has two online divisions: WheretoWhento.com which partners with Buffalo Books and More. Together they will be selling books of local interest and uniquely local products produced by regional artisans to traffic generated by Western New Yorker’s coming to find hundreds of family-friendly attractions and things to do.
