Buffalo, NY Memorial Day parade and weekend observances to honors our veterans

Memorial Day weekend is fast approaching and it is time to make plans. Here in Western , N.Y. the summer festival weekend unofficially begins at this time. From Memorial Day until Labor Day, every weekend provides a plethora of festivals and activities to plan the days around.

The first and most important reason for this weekend's observances is to remember the ones who sacrificed themselves so you could enjoy whatever you do. There are countless observances around the Buffalo, NY region where you can pay your respect to the fallen heroes.

Nothing celebrates the beginning of summer better than the annual Kenmore Memorial Day Parade.  The parade, sponsored by the American Legion Milton J. Brounshidle Post 205 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Harry E. Crosby Post 2472, takes place on Delaware Avenue, beginning in the Town of Tonawanda, continuing into the Village of Kenmore, and turning onto Lincoln Boulevard, ending at Elmwood Avenue. 11:00am - 1:00pm

The parade features bands, service organizations, dance groups, and fire departments.  Veterans and active members of the military are honored and thanked for their service to our country.

One of the most thought provoking sights in the region is Forest Lawn Cemetery in the city of Buffalo, NY on Memorial Day. Veterans groups place American flags on each fallen comrades grave. he sight of these thousands of flags is awe inspiring.

The other events happening are more fun in nature. There is A Memorial Day festival held at Southgate PLaza on Union road in West Seneca, NY.

The festival features rides, food and fun for all. On Sunday there is a chicken barbecue and fireworks at dusk.

If you are a horse owners there is an unique festival just for you. The annual Memorial Day Trail Ride is held by the Little Valley Riders Clubhouse in Little Valley, New York. This is a weekend long event. You have access to 70+ miles of trails, camping and much more . there is a fee involved, please call for more info.
