Reinstein Woods Environmental Education Center is located at the Dr. Victor Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve - a unique 292-acre complex of forests, ponds, and wetlands surrounded by suburban development. Reinstein Woods offers a variety of opportunities to explore and learn about nature for families and people of all ages. In addition to free guided tours of the woods, DEC offers a variety of special programs each month, including snowshoe and ski adventures, walks on seasonal topics, and a fall nature festival.

SUMMER BREEZE BY THE LAKE is a 9 week all-ages concert series that features a variety of musical acts performing at the top of Shakespeare Hill in Delaware Park every Thursday from June 16, 2011 through August 11, 2011. Proceeds from the series benefit the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy.

Navy Island Navy Island is on 128.2 hectares situated in the upper Niagara River and has a rich undisturbed deposit of prehistoric archaeological material. This is where the first British decked vessels to sail the upper Great Lakes were built. These vessels were essential to maintaining the supply lines westward during Pontiac's uprising (1763-64).

Forest Lawn Sunday In The Cemetery Tours. Join us for a delightful approximately 1.5-hour walking or trolley tour through Buffalo New York's historic Forest Lawn Cemetery, where you’ll learn about our history, art, architecture, wildlife, natural wonders and many of our famous residents. You’ll have a chance to meet a few of our residents along the way, as you enjoy the beauty and serenity of this beautiful, 269-acre jewel – one of Buffalo’s first landscaped green spaces.

Strap yourself in as summer takes flight at Hawk Creek Wildlife Center’s annual Bird of Prey Day on Saturday, June 18, 2011, 11:00am-4:00pm. Enjoy one-of-a-kind, up-close and personal encounters with local and exotic wildlife. Live birds of prey will zoom past audiences during the thrilling “Avian Air Force” show!

This restoration site consists of 15 acres of mature floodplain forest with 2,500 linear feet of shoreline, a 2-acre floodplain island and a mature floodplain forest with towering cottonwoods. The site is a haven for migratory birds and contains ideal nesting and breeding grounds for fish, amphibians, and a variety of species of migratory birds and waterfowl. Restoration work completed targets 5 acres of the site and emphasized invasive species removal, control and restoration plantings.

Buckhorn Island State Park nature preserve, 895 acres of marsh, meadows and woods and the last vestige of once vast marshlands and meadows that bordered the Niagara River, is classified as a park preserve. The public is welcome to walk the nature trails, hike, bike, kayak, canoe, fish and cross-country ski in the park. Ongoing restoration continues to re-establish wetland cover and water levels and increase the diversity of native flora and fauna.

Niawanda Park is located on the scenic Niagara River. It's a great to take a walk, roller-blade or jog on the riverwalk path.  They hold special events throughout the summer, including bandshell concerts and fireworks on the Fourth of July.
