Buffalo Navy Week “will commemorate the bicentennial of the War of 1812 and ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ with Navy ship visits and special events recognizing America’s Navy for keeping the sea free for more than 200 years,” the Navy announced.

“The Navy conducts Navy Weeks across the country to show Americans the return they receive for their substantial investment in the Navy,” according to Lt. Cmdr. Pamela Bou of the Navy Office of Information.

Exactly 200 years ago, war broke out on the Niagara River. Take a leisurely trip with us and learn about the battles that tore apart a continent. Two historians—one Canadian, one American—will lead the way on this two-hour cruise.

Overnight camping for the weekend is available at the firemen's park.

Reinstein Woods Environmental Education Center is located at the Dr. Victor Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve - a unique 292-acre complex of forests, ponds, and wetlands surrounded by suburban development. Reinstein Woods offers a variety of opportunities to explore and learn about nature for families and people of all ages. In addition to free guided tours of the woods, DEC offers a variety of special programs each month, including snowshoe and ski adventures, walks on seasonal topics, and a fall nature festival.

BUFFALO, NY - Over the past few months, Buffalo's waterfront has made some great improvements. Soon, one more addition can be added to the list.

The Black Rock Canal Park will soon be under construction according to the Black Rock Canal Park Steering Committee.

The announcement was made during the 2nd Annual Ride Along the Waterfront event Saturday morning. The committee has selected a company to start construction on Phase 1 of the new waterfront park.

We need your input! The Buffalo Harbor Bridge project involves environmental and engineering studies to establish a new multimodal link across the Buffalo River/City Ship Canal. Comments received from over 60 public and stakeholder meetings, along with state and federal agency input and the project purpose and need, resulted in narrowing the field of possible crossing alternatives to two locations: the foot of Main Street and the an extension of Erie Street to Fuhrmann Blvd. The “null” or “do-nothing” alterative is also being considered.
