Dys(FUN)ctional Holiday Party and Screening - Squeaky Wheel - December 16, 2011

This year, Squeaky’s Annual Dys(fun)ctional Holiday Party might be a tad bit reminiscent of a dysfunctional family function. So please arrive decked out in that nice sweater kindly knit for you by Grandma Itchyarn (unless you want her to spend all night asking why you didn’t like it) and cozy up with us as we celebrate all the different holidays and the twisted ties that seem to bind next-of-kin together tighter than ever during this particular season.

It’s time to pull out those cute and/or embarrassing family photos or videos and whip them up into something special for our screening room and galleries (video, digital artwork, and installation proposal submission deadline is Dec.1!!). Or you can just choose to channel Aunt Sue Sotipsy by arriving prepared to partake in some jolly Karaoke. Holly Johnson and Brian Milbrand (responsible for last year’s Italian Christmas Witch La Befana) this time around will be entertaining our inner kiddies with some fun from the much darker terrain of Germany. Plenty of quality lap-time and photo opportunities will be available with a mysterious Santa sidekick who truly scares the stockings off of naughty children! Space Mummy 5000 (Kevin Cain and Jim Horbett) will be on hand for a special performance wherein a holiday mummy from the future will be awakened by a sound performance and a flicker film to tell the tale of a far-away galaxy where it is Christmas ALL THE TIME.

And last but not least, if you are typically Cousin Joe Terriblegiftgiver, or just a slow poke, pick up some desirable last minute items from local vendors during the gift basket auction.

Come as you are and let your shortcomings shine (if you’ve got any, that is) – we’re all family here and ’tis the season to be together in good cheer, whether we like it or not!
