The Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum - Buffalo, NY

Location

The Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum 220 North Street
Buffalo, NY 14201
United States

The Karpeles Manuscript Library founded in 1983 by California real estate magnates, David and Marsha Karpeles, is part of the world's largest privately-held collection of rare and valuable manuscripts. The museum houses gems such as an original U.S. Bill of Rights draft, a description by Einstein of his Theory of Relativity, and a Thanksgiving Proclamation signed by George Washington.

Buffalo is privileged to house two Karpeles museums; Porter Hall at 453 Porter Avenue, and North Hall at 220 North Street.  A National Historic site, the building underwent a massive restoration in the early 1990s and saw its first exhibit in 1996.

Admission to the museums are free, although donations are appreciated.
