Murphy Orchards is a 65-acre, family owned and operated fruit farm, located about 12 miles due north of Lockport, New York, 3 miles south of the Lake Ontario shore, and 25 miles east of Niagara Falls, in Burt, right next to Newfane.

They welcome everyone, without reservation or admission charge, to come and pick fruit, browse through their Country store, have afternoon tea or Luncheon in their Tea Room, enjoy their grounds and facilities, and visit their barn where you can see the entrance to a secret room where people escaping from slavery between 1850 and 1861 were sheltered by the McClew family before going on to the safety of their next stop.

Murphy Orchards make a large variety of homemade jams and jellies, right there on the farm, which can also be purchased in their country barn store, ordered online, or ordered by mail using their printable order form. Their homemade products include such flavors as kiwi jam, rhubarb jam, spiced cranberry jam, red tomato jam, strawberry-kiwi jam, raspberry-cherry jam, elderberry jelly, hot pepper jelly, mulberry jelly, quince jelly and so much more.

The farm has been a family owned and operated fruit farm in continuous production since the early 1800s. They still grow plants on the same soil to earn their living, and still use the farmhouse, barn and outbuildings built by Charles and Libby McClew in 1850.

The farm's structures, the orchards and the landscape itself remain virtually as they were 150 years ago, allowing you to step back in time and experience a very special and unique view of Underground Railroad History.
