Saturday, April 16 at 8:30 PM - The Pierce Arrow Building
For those of you that are not familiar with the Runway events produced by the Fashion Technology Program at Buffalo State College, the Runway event spotlights senior collections from fashion students and students selections. If there is space we add invited alum and instructor collections and work from WNY designers. This event contains 98-99% original one of a kind fashions. All of the work from students, instructors and alum are one of a kind original fashions. It is a very unique and eclectic event. Here is alink to the ARTVOICE-TV video from Runway 3.0.
Our vision of Runway 4.0 is Fashion Diversity Mash, which is about researching, exploring and understanding differences of embracing and celebrating the rich global, historical and economic dimensions of them.
Diverse fashion mash inspirations can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or any other multi-cultural ideologies. The designers intentionally collide and combine multi-cultural potpourri [Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia, North and South America, all points urban and country], trends, techniques, materials, styling.
Our venue is the historic Pierce Arrow Building is located on Elmwood Avenue, steps away from Buffalo State College. Designed by Albert Kahn in 1906, it was the headquarters for the manufacture of the world-renowned Pierce-Arrow automobiles. Seventy years later Buffalo rock star Rick James used the facility for band practice. rumor has it that before he would start, he would unload rounds from his 38- caliber pistol into the walls--evidence of which can be seen today. The Pierce-Arrow Building--technology is from one extreme to the next--a perfect setting in which to host Runway.
There will be a presentation of Buffalo State College’s Fashion Department senior designers, fiber design students, alumni, and local designers. All proceeds go to the Fashion Technology Scholarship Fund.
